The Table Community Food Centre (The Table) is an established non-profit community organization, in the town of Perth Ontario. An affiliate of Community Food Centres Canada, we use the power of good food to fight hunger, build hope and health and challenge inequality.

The Table is currently seeking an individual to fill the position of Food Skills and Community Kitchen Coordinator. The position is four days / week and will include access to The Table’s benefits package for fulltime employees. Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and evaluate programs to improve the food skills, food literacy and confidence of community members.
  • Seek partnerships with other agencies to support programming.
  • Engage, supervise and support volunteers.
  • Recruit program participants with a strong emphasis on individuals and families living on low incomes.
  • Create an inclusive, welcoming and supportive environment during all program sessions.
  • Ensure safe and hygienic food handling practices are learned and implemented by program participants and volunteers.
  • Manage program budgets.
  • In cooperation with the Executive Director seek out program funding opportunities, develop applications, and report to funders.
  • Assist with communications, fundraising, events and other organization-wide activities.
     

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Relevant post-secondary diploma or degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience developing and delivering community programming for diverse populations.
  • Knowledge and skills in food safety, healthy cooking and nutrition.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work with people experiencing marginalization and poverty.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Demonstrated initiative and independence.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing volunteers.
  • Effective organizational, planning and time management skills to manage multiple programs and demands.
  • Ability to work evenings and some weekends.
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office and Google applications.
  • A personal commitment to social justice, good food and health.
  • Creativity, flexibility, adaptability, and a sense of humour are essential.
