FoodFit

FoodFit is a program that is developed, managed, funded and evaluated by Community Food Centres Canada. It started as a pilot project back in 2014, and was picked up to be funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada in 2016 for a five year grant. It was developed in partnership with a medical doctor, dietitian and health promotion specialists who had a special interest in preventative care and chronic disease management. Over that time, the program was run in 28 communities from coast to coast to coast. It continues to be delivered and developed through funding from other partners.

Over the years the program has constantly been adapted based on what we’ve learned from our community of organizations, facilitators and participants - and even the program content you see here is subject to change based on what we continue to learn. At the core of the program however are three key goals for participants, all of which are very important for health:

  • Eat more nourishing foods

  • Move more

  • Make connections with others

FoodFit is offered at Maberly Hall in cooperation with Tay Valley Township. For upcoming dates, for more information or to register, contact Joey at joey@thetablecfc.org, 613-267-6428 x 105.
